Am having my head well and truly done in with a problem with my friends MK2s and was hoping someone out there could offer some advice?
She bought a pair of second hand decks (and being somewhat impulsive she bought them on the spur of the moment, without getting me over to check them out first)
They are basically running too slow. I have benchmarked them with my mixer (which has a BPM counter) and the pitch is simply about 20% too low right across the scale. There is obviously an anomoly at the 0 mark as the limiter board thingie forces them back to the correct speed, but that is to be expected and could be remedied by removing the board.
If it was just one deck, I would figure that it was just duff. What has me confused is that both decks are exactly the same. It seems unlikely that both pitch faders have worn and drifted by exactly the same amount. The voltage selector under the platter is set correctly and I have even got her to run them up to mine just in case there was something odd with the power in her house (which seemed a bit of a long-shot, but I was getting desperate). This made no difference either.
Any ideas anyone?

it would seem the pitch needs adjusting - (inside the unit) i have not done this myself but have seen the pot control inside to do this
u need a multimeter and a guide on how to do it ( it is very simple) attach the multi meter to the pot and adjust to the correct level ( i dont know what this is but i,m sure you can find out)

If the problem is at the Zero Pont on an 1200MK2 then the VR pot will have no effect ...... Id disable the Quartz Lock and then preciesly calibrate the pitches using at least 3 places along the scale Give me a shout if you are still having problems Jay Anderson www.turntabletech.com
