For some reason, my tonearm drags outward when it gets towards the center of the platter. It causes the needle to skip when there are no scratches.
I've tried reconfiguring everything I can touch on the outside and I am still having this problem - I believe it may have occured when my tables were shipped.
Please Jay! Help me!

James,
well, hmmmmmm
It is most likely the tonearm is in need of adjustment
most likely the top screw inside a locking ring that needs to be loosened
First loosen the outer locking ring and then back it off a bit
Next loosen the inner screw a bit... i mean the littelest bit and then tighten the outer locking ring again
let me know if this helps

I had the same problem with my Technics. See if your antiskate is working. turn off your antiskate, then reset your cart. so that it floats. then, turn your antiskate to 3. if it doesn't move back to the rest, then you might have to replace the string on the antiskate. The anti skate mechanism consists of a wire that introduces an opposing force upon the tonearm to counteract the natural tendency of the tonearm to want to move toward the center spindle. The Anti Skate knob is calibrated in grams and this represents the amount of opposing force to the tonearm. This is a somewhat complicated mechanism and in my opinion you should take it to a qualified technician....or send it to our shop please contact me, or visit our site for furthur information thanks revolution@turntabletech.com www.turntabletech.com

For some reason, my tonearm drags outward when it gets towards the center of the platter. I've got the same problem here. I bought both my 1210s used. One was shipped though, and I think it suffered some damage on its way. Now I noticed that the tonearm drags outward, no matter at what point of the record I place the needle (with antiskate at 0). Also, when I take the tonearm and gently shake it up and down, it makes a rattling sound, as if something was loose. I cant tell what though. The other 1210 behaves even more strangely. As long as the needle is on the inner half of the record, the tonearm is okay, but when it's somewhere on the outer half of the record, the tonearm moves outwards as well. It's evident when I try to do fast scratching, my M447 skips more when it's on the outer half of the record. How the hell can I fix that?? I live in Austria, and I dont wanna ship my decks to any service, besides I wanna learn to fix stuff on my own. (I know Revolution already replied to that other guy, but I wanna hear it again before I do something that could screw up my decks) THANKS!!

help me! just bought some 1200s and they consitantly skip. I think i have located the problem to a faulty antiskip. However rather than needing changing i think the screw underneath just needs tightening (as it turns as the wheel does) however it is impossible to screw without lifting out the tone arm mechanism and i have no idea how to do this safely.
